TCSplin

Keywords: Data analysis: statistics; probability density function; spline histogram

Tensioned Cubic Spline fortran77 code (compiler is not included) for spline histogram calculations of 1-dimensional data sets and its error estimates. The parameter independent spline histograms are very useful in statistical analysis.
Sorry, no fancy interface, just command line executable with editable parameter file. Note that we strongly recommend using only the latest TCSplin release. For latest improvements and bug fixes see the TCSplin postscript manual (also included in the package).

tcsplin_v1_0.tar.gz (0.5 Mb) Nov 30, 2002 (not recommended)

Package contains: TCSplin f77 code with a short manual, precompiled w32 version (tested under Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP), as well as IDL & Gnuplot scripts for easy visualization of results. Note that in order to compile the program you will need to use several subroutines from the Numerical Recipes (see Requirements).

    Requirements:
  • Fortran 77 compiler (probably any will do!)
Tested on several gcc in Linux and on Microsoft Fortran Power Station in Windows
  • Some routines from Numerical Recipes by W.H. Press, S.A. Teukolsky, W.T. Vetterling, B.P. Flannery published by Cambridge University Press available online from: http://www.nr.com/. For details see the manual inside the TCSplin package.

  • Additional Requirements (for visualization scripts):
  • Interactive Data Language, see http://www.rsinc.com/idl/
  • Gnuplot for different computer platforms is available as freeware from: http://www.gnuplot.info/ (c) Thomas Williams, Colin Kelley
